Automation Overview & FAQs
Last updated: January 6, 2026
Overview
Workflows helps you automate actions based on changes in your data. You can set up triggers that detect meaningful signals — such as field updates, metric shifts, or new records — and automatically send alerts or take action through integrated tools.
Use Cases
Workflows is useful when you want to:
Get an email notification when an important account attribute changes (e.g., job title, sponsorship)
Alert a Slack or Teams channel when a score crosses a threshold or a key metric changes
Run workflows only for a specific segment (e.g., companies in your “Active Deals” list)
Set scheduled checks (e.g., weekly monitoring of a saved segment)
(Coming soon) Keep lists up to date automatically (e.g., add companies to a list when they match a saved search or condition)
Key Features and How to Use It
Current State (Beta)
Workflows is currently in Beta. Core functionality is available, but the experience is actively being refined and some features are still rolling out. You may encounter limited configuration options, missing capabilities, or minor inconsistencies as improvements ship.
In Beta today:
Each workflow supports one trigger and one action
Triggers support common conditions, but not all comparisons are available in every trigger type
Workflows can be filtered to apply only to specific segments (via lists / saved searches)
Actions currently focus on alerts and simple record handling (with more integrations coming)
Triggers
Triggers define when a workflow runs. The following trigger types are supported:
Field
Runs when a field meets a condition (e.g., exists, equals, includes, changes).
Example: “When ‘Lifecycle Stage’ becomes ‘Customer’”
Metric
Runs when a metric changes or crosses a threshold.
Example: “When score increases above 80”
Record
Runs when a record is created or updated.
Note: availability may vary depending on rollout stage.
Saved Search
Runs when the result set of a saved search changes (for example, when new companies match a segment).
Scheduled
Runs on a fixed schedule (for example, daily or weekly checks).
Note: Workflows currently supports one trigger per workflow.
Actions
Actions define what happens when a workflow trigger condition is met. The following action templates are supported:
Slack Alert
Send a notification to a Slack channel.
Teams Alert
Send a notification to a Microsoft Teams channel.
Email Alert
Send an email notification.
Add to List
Add matching records to a list.
Note: Workflows currently supports one action per workflow.
Data Series (Filters)
You can apply list-based filters to limit workflows to specific segments.
Example: “Only run this workflow for companies in my Active Deals list.”
This allows workflows to focus on the records that matter most without triggering across your entire workspace.
Limitations (Things to Watch Out For)
Workflows is still early and in Beta. The most important things to be aware of:
One trigger and one action per workflow: Multi-step workflows, branching logic, and routing are not supported yet.
Trigger capabilities vary: Some trigger types may not support all comparisons or conditions yet.
Record triggers may not be available everywhere: If you don’t see Record triggers enabled, it may still be rolling out.
UX is still stabilizing: The workflow builder is being improved, and some setup flows may feel less intuitive today.
FAQs
Q: What can I automate today?
A: You can trigger workflows based on field changes, metric changes, scheduled runs, saved search changes, and (in some environments) record creation/updates. You can send alerts via Slack, Teams, or Email, or add matching records to a list.
Q: Can I create multiple triggers or actions in a single workflow?
A: Not yet. Workflows currently supports one trigger and one action per workflow.
Q: What’s the difference between field, metric, record, and saved search triggers?
A:
Field: Watches a specific field for conditions like exists/equals/includes/changes
Metric: Watches numerical or calculated values for changes or thresholds
Record: Detects new or updated records
Saved Search: Detects changes in which records match a saved search (segment)
Scheduled: Runs automatically on a set schedule
Q: Can I limit workflows to specific accounts or segments?
A: Yes. You can apply list-based filters so workflows only apply to the segment you choose.
Q: What tools can workflows integrate with?
A: Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Email alerts are supported, along with adding records to lists. More integrations and actions will be added over time.
Q: Are there known issues?
A: Yes. Workflows is in Beta and may have minor setup issues or feature limitations. If something doesn’t work as expected, report it through the standard ticket process.
Q: Can I view run history?
Yes, under the 3 dots of your workflow in the table view.
