Alerts (Automation): Set Up Email/Slack/MS Teams Notifications

Last updated: February 2, 2026

What are Alerts?

Alerts let you automatically monitor companies or people in the CRED platform and get notified (via email) when a condition is met — for example, when a metric crosses a threshold.

When to use Alerts

Use Alerts to:

  • track key metric changes (ex: revenue > 10M)

  • monitor a list of companies/people on a schedule

  • avoid manually checking the same data repeatedly

How Alerts work

Alerts are configured using:

  • Event (Trigger): defines the condition (ex: Total Revenue > 10,000,000)

  • Action: defines what happens (ex: Email Alert)

  • Workflow: connects trigger + action and sets schedule + dataset (Data Series)

Set up an Alert (Quick Steps)

1) Create an Event (Trigger)

  1. Go to Automation → Events

  2. Create an Event (example: Metric Trigger)

  3. Select:

    • Entity: Company / People

    • Metric: e.g., Total Revenue

    • Operator: greater than / lesser than / between

    • Value: e.g., 10,000,000

  4. Save

2) Create an Action

  1. Go to Automation → Actions

  2. Select Email Alert

  3. Add recipient(s)

  4. Save

3) Create a Workflow

  1. Go to Automation → Workflows

  2. Select:

    • Event (Trigger)

    • Action

  3. Choose a Data Series (list of companies/people)

  4. Set schedule (monthly/quarterly) + start/end dates

  5. Save

4) Test Run

Run a test to confirm setup.
If no entities match, the workflow will still run and trigger once matches appear.

Limitations

  • Alerts only work for available metrics/fields on the selected entity.

  • If no entities match the criteria, no email will be sent until a match occurs.

  • Trigger options vary depending on trigger type (Metric vs Field vs Search).
