Getting Started with CRED: Your Guided Onboarding
Last updated: July 20, 2026
Overview
When you first open CRED, a short guided setup personalizes the platform to you and your company — confirming your details, building your first account score, prepping outreach in your voice, matching CRED's appearance to your brand, and pointing you to the parts of the app that matter most to your role. Most of it is already done for you before you arrive.
Before you start
- Your workspace is set up for you as part of your team's onboarding, so CRED already knows your company.
- Everything you confirm here can be changed later in Settings — nothing is locked in.
- Connecting your inbox (Gmail or Outlook) is optional during setup but unlocks sending sequences in your voice.
Step-by-step
1. Confirm your account details
CRED starts by showing you what it already knows about your company. On Did we get this right?, review the details we pulled from your account:
- Account
- Company URL
- Industry
Set your Permissions using the toggle — Admin or Member — and edit anything that's off. When it looks right, select Yes, this looks right.
💡 Tip: You can change any of this later in settings, so don't worry about getting it perfect now.
2. Review your ready-made score
CRED scrapes your website to build a starter customer list, then runs the same suggested ICP fit score you get in Lists — so you can prioritize every company in your database from day one. You'll see Your team's list and score are ready with:
- Your customer companies — the list built from your website
- Your account score — generated automatically
Select Open Scoring to edit & run to view and tune it.
If CRED can't find customers on your site, you'll see No customers found from your website scrape. From there you can:
- Select Scan my site for customers to try again, or
- Use Search the CRED company graph to add a company… to add the companies you count as customers, then select Generate suggested score.
💡 Tip: The score is only a starting point — it's fully tunable anytime from Scoring.
3. Set up outreach in your voice
Because CRED has already scraped your website, your messaging context is prepared for you on Outreach that already knows your story:
- Customer pain points
- Value proposition
These personalize every sequence so your outreach matches your voice — never generic AI copy — and you approve every draft before it sends. Connect your inbox to start sending:
- Connect Gmail
- Connect Outlook
- or Skip — go to Sequences to do this later
💡 Tip: Connecting your inbox also lets CRED refine its tone of voice to match how you actually write.
4. Choose your look
CRED seeds a brand color from your company logo so the app can feel like yours. On the appearance step (**Set your workspace's look.** for admins, Make CRED yours. for members), choose a Theme:
- Light
- Dark
- Brand — the color seeded from your logo
Admins can set the default for everyone with Apply to → For workspace or For user, then Save for workspace. Members save a personal theme with Save for me.
💡 Tip: Only admins can change the workspace-wide brand color — members can always override their own theme in settings.
5. Pick what to learn first
The final step, What do you want to learn about?, offers guided tours tailored to your role. Pick one and CRED takes you straight there; you can explore the rest later from your home checklist.
Individual contributors see:
- Finding new leads — discover decision-makers at target brands
- Sending outreach — multi-step sequences in your voice
- Building a list — curate accounts to work
- Meetings & transcripts — pre/post-meeting intelligence
- The AI assistant — ask CRED anything, take actions
- Setting up alerts — know when brands move first
Admins see:
- Connecting integrations — CRM sync, Slack, Teams, email
- Building a score — custom ICP fit model
- Configuring alerts — signal monitoring for the team
- Inviting your team — SSO + seat assignment
- The AI assistant — workspace-wide agent setup
- Intelligence & reports — ROI reports, exec briefings
Prefer to dive straight in? Select Skip — take me to my home.
💡 Tip: Move between steps using Continue to [next step] at the bottom, or Finish on the last step. The counter shows your progress as {step} / {total}.
6. Finish in your home dashboard
When you're done you land on your home dashboard, where anything left over stays with you in the GET SET UP panel — You're {x} of {y} through your setup. Select Resume to jump back into the next step. Once everything's complete it shows All done 🎉, and you can Dismiss it. You can also relaunch a guided tour from any supported area of the app at any time.

FAQs
Where did CRED get my company details?
CRED pre-fills your Account, Company URL, and Industry from your account and profile. Review them on Did we get this right? and edit anything that's off.
What's the difference between "Admin" and "Member"?
Your Permissions selection sets your role. Admins can configure workspace-wide settings (like the brand color, scoring model, and integrations); members set personal preferences. You can change this later in settings.
Why is my score empty, and how do I fix it?
If CRED couldn't find customers on your website you'll see No customers found from your website scrape. Select Scan my site for customers to retry, or search the CRED company graph to add customers manually, then Generate suggested score.
Do I have to connect my email during onboarding?
No. Select Skip — go to Sequences and connect Gmail or Outlook later. Connecting it lets CRED send in your voice and refine its tone of voice.
Why can't I change the workspace brand color?
The workspace brand color is admin-controlled. Members can still choose their own Light, Dark, or Brand theme, which saves to their profile.
I skipped a step — where did it go?
Anything you skip appears in the GET SET UP panel on your home dashboard. Select Resume to finish it anytime.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Did we get this right? shows Not set or Detecting… | No account is linked to your profile yet, or detection is still running | Set the details manually, or complete this in Settings |
Score never generates | No customer companies in your list | Add companies via Search the CRED company graph…, then Generate suggested score |
Website scan fails | CRED couldn't start the scan | Add companies manually below, or retry with Scan my site for customers |
Brand color option is locked | You're a Member, not an Admin | Choose a personal theme instead, or ask an admin to set the workspace color |
