Team Permissions: Controlling What Each Team Can See, Edit and Delete in CRED
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Watch: Team Permissions in 3 minutes
A 3-minute walkthrough: finding Teams under Members, creating an internal team, setting what it can see and edit, and adding a member to it.
Why use Team Permissions
Team Permissions let you split your workspace into teams, each with its own access rules. You decide what each team can see, edit and delete, so everyone works from the right slice of your pipeline.
Use it when you want to:
Give regional teams their own book of accounts, contacts and opportunities
Let vendors or agencies work in CRED without seeing your full pipeline
Stop people from editing or deleting records they don't own
Change access for a whole group in one place instead of person by person
Keep lists and sequences private to the people who built them
Where to find it
Go to Settings โ Workspace โ Members. You'll see three tabs at the top: Members, Invited Members and Teams.
Teams tab: create teams and set what each team can access.
Members tab: the Team and Permissions columns show each person's team and a summary of their access. Click a member to change their team.
Only workspace Admins see the Teams tab. If you're an Admin and can't see it, contact your account manager to turn on Team Permissions for your workspace.
How to set it up
Prerequisites:
You're a workspace Admin
The people you want to add to a team have already joined your workspace (see Inviting teammates to your workspace)
1. Create a team
On the Teams tab, click Create team. Enter a Team name (for example "Middle East desk") and, if you like, a Description (optional). Then click Create team.
๐ก Tip: A new team starts with full access to everything. Set its access in the next step before you add anyone to it.
2. Set what the team can access
The Team access panel opens automatically after you create the team. You can open it again at any time with the pencil icon on the team's row.
For each of Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities and Lists & sequences, choose a Visibility option:
Visibility | What members see |
|---|---|
All [records] | Every record in the workspace |
Their team's [records] | Records owned by anyone on their team |
Only [records] they own | Only records they own |
No access | None. The section is hidden or empty for them |
Then use the Edit and Delete switches to decide whether members can change or remove the records they can see.
Under Members & teams, set Create & edit teams to Yes or No.
3. Save and apply
Click Save. If the team already has members, CRED asks how to apply the change, and lists anything members will lose:
Apply to all members now: everyone on the team gets the new access straight away.
Keep current members' access: current members leave the team and keep the access they have today. The new access only applies to people you add later. This can't be undone.
4. Add members to the team
Go to the Members tab and click a member's row. In the panel that opens, choose a team from the Team dropdown and click Save. You can also change a team directly from the Team column.
๐ก Tip: Each person can belong to one team. Choosing a new team replaces their current one.
5. Confirm it worked
On the Members tab, check the Permissions column for the person you added. It should show the team's access, for example "Only their team's records". Changes apply the next time that person loads a page in CRED.
Credits
Team Permissions don't use any credits. Creating teams, setting access and moving members between teams is all included in your plan.

Admins who aren't on a team keep full access. If you put an Admin on a restricted team, that team's rules apply to them too.
Members who aren't on a team keep full access to records, unless an Admin has set individual access for them.
Nobody can change the team or access rules that apply to themselves. Ask another Admin.

Data privacy
Team Permissions only control access inside your workspace. No data leaves CRED and nothing is shared outside your workspace.
The rules apply across CRED, including record views, lists, dashboards and exports. People can only export records they're allowed to see.
Your CRM sync isn't affected. Data still flows in and out as before. The rules only change what each person sees once it's in CRED.
Restricting access to contacts helps you share personal data only with the people who need it, in line with data-minimisation under GDPR.

FAQs
Do Team Permissions consume credits?
No. Creating teams, changing access and moving members between teams is free.
Why can't I see the Teams tab?
Only workspace Admins see the Teams tab. If you're an Admin and still can't see it, contact your account manager to turn on Team Permissions for your workspace.
Why can't I see an account (or contact) my colleague can see?
Your team's access may be set to Their team's or Only โฆ they own records. Check your access in the Permissions column on the Members page, or ask an Admin to check your team's settings.
What counts as a record I "own"?
For accounts, contacts, lists and sequences, it's usually the person who created or imported the record. For opportunities, it's the person the opportunity is assigned to. "Their team's" records are those owned by anyone currently on your team.
Why can't my restricted team see accounts that came in from our CRM?
Records synced from your CRM may not have an owner in CRED. Records without an owner don't show up for teams set to Their team's or Only โฆ they own. If your team relies on CRM data, set Accounts to All accounts for that team.
Can someone be in more than one team?
No. Each person belongs to one team. Choosing a new team replaces the current one, so you never have to work out which team's rules win.
What happens to existing members when I change a team's access?
When you save, choose Apply to all members now to update everyone at once. Choose Keep current members' access to leave current members on their existing access (they leave the team) and apply the new rules only to people you add later.
Can I stop people from deleting records?
Yes. Turn off Delete for that record type in the team's access settings. Members can still see the records but can't delete, archive or merge them.
