CRED Single Sign-On (SSO): Microsoft Setup Guide

Last updated: January 16, 2026

This guide explains how to configure Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO) for your CRED workspace, allowing team members to sign in using their Microsoft or Azure AD credentials.

Prerequisites

Before setting up Microsoft SSO, make sure the following requirements are met.

  • The first user to configure and sign in via Microsoft must have CRED Workspace Admin access. Only workspace administrators can enable SSO.

  • You must have Microsoft Azure AD admin access, or the ability to request application approvals from your IT team.

Setting Up Microsoft SSO

Step 1: Access SSO Settings in CRED

  1. Log in to your CRED workspace as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Members

  3. Click a member to open in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Enable SSO.

Step 2: Complete the OAuth Connection (as a Microsoft Admin user)

  1. Click Sign in with Microsoft.

  2. You will be redirected to Microsoft’s sign-in page.

  3. Sign in with a Microsoft account that has admin privileges.

  4. Review the permissions CRED is requesting and click Accept.

Step 3: Verify the Connection

  1. Open an incognito or private browser window.

  2. Navigate to your CRED workspace login page.

  3. Click Sign in with Microsoft.

  4. Confirm that authentication completes successfully.

What Users Experience

  • Once Microsoft SSO is enabled by the admin user, the users with SSO enabled trying to sign in via email and password will be prompted 'Sign in with SSO'.

  • Clicking the button redirects them to Microsoft’s authentication flow.

  • After successful authentication, users are automatically signed into CRED.

FAQs

Q: Why do I see an “Approval Required” message when signing in?

A: Your Azure AD tenant requires administrator approval for third-party applications. Contact your Azure AD administrator:

  1. (Easiest option) Invite them to CRED and ask them to sign in via Microsoft

  2. or ask them to grant tenant-wide consent for the CRED application.
For more details, see Microsoft’s Admin Consent documentation at:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/manage-apps/admin-consent-workflow-overview

Q: The admin approved the app, but I still can’t sign in. What should I do?

A: In the Azure portal, go to Enterprise Applications, find CRED, and open Users and groups. Verify that you are assigned to the application.
Also review Sign-in logs for specific error codes and check whether any Conditional Access policies may be blocking access.

Also check that your user in CRED has 'Enable SSO'

Q: Why do I see “You Need Permission to Access This App”?

A: This usually means you do not have a CRED account or have not been invited to the workspace. Contact your workspace administrator and ask them to send you an invitation.

Q: After signing in with Microsoft, I’m redirected back to the login page. How do I fix this?

A: Try the following steps:

  1. Clear your browser cookies and cache.

  2. Make sure third-party cookies are enabled.

  3. Try signing in with a different browser.

  4. Temporarily disable browser extensions and try again.

Q: I’m having issues with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). What should I do?

A: MFA is managed by Azure AD, not by CRED. Contact your Azure AD administrator to confirm MFA is properly configured for your account and to review any Conditional Access policies that require specific MFA methods
